What is your GLOW?
Every single one of us is born with a glow within us. It shines brightly when we are children and even though it lives within, when our glow burns bright, it can be seen and felt outwardly. Think about the way a child’s eyes can sparkle, and their laughter and smiles can fill a space with so much life. Our glow is like our super power and it burns brightly in us as children because of our ability to see magic in everything, to believe that anything is possible, to live fearlessly, and to unapologetically dream big.
As children, we have not yet been jaded by our eventual life experiences that dim our glow and make us forget our super power within. As we grow up, heartbreak, loneliness, betrayal, fear, insecurities, and more, diminish our glow, allowing illness, depression, pain, and unhappiness to fill its place instead.
How does it affect your life?
When your glow is fully activated, you live as your authentic self, focused on joy, and move unapologetically in the direction of your dreams. On the inside, your digestion system is functioning properly and optimally. You are free of inflammation, bloating, and discomfort, and because your digestion system is working optimally, you are digesting your food well and maximizing your nutrient absorption. As a result, your hair is fuller, shiny, and growing longer at a faster rate, your skin is blemish free and luminous, and your nails are strong and healthy.
When your digestive system is working optimally, your immune is also strong and supporting your overall health and well-being. This is because between 70-80% of the cells that make up your immune system lives in your digestive system, or “gut”. Studies have shown that there is a direct link between the health of the microbiome system (also known as gut flora, or good bacteria) in your gut and how well the immune system contributes in a positive way in improving our health.
All of the cells within our body are little storage units of energy and are therefore constantly giving and receiving energy. When your glow is fully activated, your cells receive more positive energy. From your thoughts, mindset, and mood, to the nutrients from your food and the ease at which all of your systems are able to function, your glow is your super power because it allows you to move through life with more ease and happiness, which results in a visible radiance . Your physical body is working in harmony with your mind and your spirit, and the end result is a visible glow that radiates from the inside out for all the world to see.
Common dimming factors
We have already learned that as children, we are naturally living from this place of ease, and the reason is simple: as children, we only live in the present moment, not caring about the past, or worrying about the future. The natural way of living for children is for them to do whatever they want, and this is what brings them joy. By focusing on doing the things that bring them joy, living in the present moment, and not being weighed down by the false narratives that will eventually dim their glow, children are radiant with the glow of love, joy, and acceptance.
As we grow into older children, we start to listen to the false narratives that we tell ourselves or are told to us by society, social media, and/or our families and friends. We start to believe that living in fear and stress is our natural way of being, instead of in love and joy like when we were small children. These are the first things that start to dim our glow. From there, our glow is much more susceptible to the effects of heartbreak, perceived failures, insecurities, and a lack of self-worth. The dimming of our glow allows illness, disease, inflammation, pain, depression, and other manifestations of suffering to move in and take up the space that it once so brightly occupied.
Luckily for us, our glow is never able to be fully extinguished and by following a few steps, we can re-activate this super power and start living a life of freedom, joy, and love.
